Thrifting Adventures in Syracuse: A Vintage Clothing Haul

Hey there! If you're new here, my name is Leela and I run Liebe Vintage, an Etsy shop where I sell vintage clothing and denim. I've also got an active Instagram account where I share content related to vintage fashion, lifestyle, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of my work. Occasionally, I like to post on YouTube to showcase my vintage hauls and provide a platform for longer discussions about my sourcing adventures. Speaking of which, in this haul, I had the opportunity to join a boys' fishing trip in Syracuse, New York. While my boyfriend and his friend went steelhead fishing in the Salmon River, I decided to turn it into a sourcing trip. Little did I know that Syracuse had such amazing thrifting options. So, let's dive into the haul and see the treasures I found!

The Journey to Syracuse

With the promise of an exciting fishing trip, I packed my bags and joined my boyfriend and his friend on their adventure to Syracuse. I seized the opportunity to take a few days off, enjoy a mini-vacation, and scout for unique vintage pieces. Our itinerary allowed me some time to explore the thrift stores in the area, and I was beyond thrilled with what I discovered. Even though I couldn't spend much time in each store, the finds I made were truly remarkable. So, without further ado, let's jump right into the highlights of my thrift haul!

Thrifting in Syracuse

3.1. Shoe Finds

As always, I started my thrift journey with a keen eye on shoes. They have been selling like hotcakes in my Etsy shop, so I make it a point to regularly stock up on footwear. In Syracuse, I stumbled upon a cute pair of little chunky loafers with a stacked block heel. These have been a hit lately, so I didn't mind paying a bit more for these. Additionally, I found a pair of mesh geometric heels with an open toe, stacked heel, and a unique design that immediately caught my attention. They were so cute that I couldn't resist adding them to my haul. Apart from these, I also grabbed some adorable blue and black loafers with a stretchy material and a buckle on the side. These were perfect for my Etsy shop, especially considering that I could create one listing and simply change the color for the matching black pair. To top it off, I discovered a pair of classic Bean boots that always seem to do well at the Fairfield Antique Mall. All in all, the shoe section in Syracuse did not disappoint!

3.2. Dress Discoveries

Next up, I delved into the world of dresses. Syracuse proved to be a goldmine for finding unique and elegant pieces. I stumbled upon a stunning satin-textured maxi dress with a velvet top and strappy back. It was similar to a maroon dress I already had in my collection, so I was thrilled to add another one. If it fits, I'll keep it for myself; otherwise, it will be available in my Etsy store. Corduroy dresses always catch my eye, so I couldn't resist adding a few to my haul. A brown corduroy midi-length dress and a pink punched leather mini dress were too cute to pass up. The intricate details and quality construction made them perfect additions to my shop. Another standout find was a floral long-sleeve dress from LL Bean. With pockets and a charming print, it was a must-have. Overall, the Syracuse thrifting scene offered a treasure trove of adorable and high-quality dresses.

3.3. Skirt Selections

In search of versatile and trendy pieces, I moved on to explore skirts. Thrift stores in Syracuse delivered once again, with an array of skirt options that grabbed my attention. Among the finds was a colorful and pastel-themed skirt with a unique pattern that effortlessly added a touch of elegance to any outfit. A Pendleton green houndstooth skirt with pleats and a red plaid high-rise skirt also made their way into my haul. Both were perfect for layering and had that classic vintage appeal. Additionally, I discovered a teal blue wide-bell corduroy skirt and a Glasgow Angora knit skirt with a double-breasted button style. These skirts showcased the diversity in styles and textures that Syracuse thrift stores had to offer.

3.4. Denim Delights

No thrift haul is complete without a few denim finds. I scoured through racks of jeans hoping to strike vintage gold, and Syracuse did not disappoint. I stumbled upon Sasson jeans, a brand that always catches my eye due to its iconic 1970s ad campaign. The pair I found had an elastic waist, a high-rise fit, and a tapered leg, making it ideal for everyday comfort and style. Apart from these, I discovered a pair of Levi's 505 jeans, showcasing the classic wash and timeless appeal that vintage denim lovers seek. To add a pop of color to my denim section, I snagged a pair of vibrant salmon-colored jeans and a low-rise flare leg pair in mud jeans style. Syracuse proved that even in the world of denim, there were hidden treasures waiting to be discovered.

3.5. Sweater Scores

As winter approached, I couldn't resist browsing through the sweater racks. Syracuse had a plethora of cozy and stylish options to choose from. I found everything from vintage Warwick jackets with fleece linings to Sears Superwash red wool sweaters. A standout discovery was a 1950s Glasgow Angora knit sweater with a cropped style, double-breasted button closure, and hidden shoulder pads. The craftsmanship and unique details immediately caught my attention. Additionally, I stumbled upon a purple knit mohair sweater, exuding elegance and softness. The pure Merino wool fisherman-style sweater in a bright red color was another gem that added a pop of vibrancy to my sweater collection. Syracuse thrifting truly allowed me to curate a diverse and stunning assortment of sweaters.

The Fairfield Antique Mall

Apart from the thrift stores, I'm always excited to visit the Fairfield Antique Mall. It's a great place to showcase and sell some of the vintage pieces that don't make it to my Etsy shop. From flannels to timeless classics like LL Bean jackets, the Antique Mall offers a platform for me to connect with buyers who appreciate vintage fashion. Thrifted flannels, in particular, have always been a hit at the Antique Mall, making it a perfect destination for those looking for unique and high-quality vintage pieces.
