Introduction

Hey everyone, it's me Nita and welcome back to my channel! In today's video, I'm going to be testing out some new beanies from AJ Blanks. I will be adding these beanies to my Etsy shop and my website, so I'm excited to see how they turn out. Specifically, I'll be working on a faux Chanel style embroidery design, and if it looks good, I'll be adding a variety of faux Varsity letters. Let's dive in and get started on these beanies!

Testing Out the New Beanies from AJ Blanks

I recently got my hands on some new beanies from AJ Blanks and I can't wait to see how they embroider. I already tested out a basic personalized beanie with a varsity font, and I'll be offering these on my website and Etsy shop. The beanies come in a variety of colors, such as light pink, red, cream, lavender, black, and a cute sage color. I believe that these colors will be popular among customers and provide options for different themed beanies.

Working on a Faux Chanel Style Embroidery Design

Today, I'll be focusing on creating a faux Chanel style embroidery design on the beanies. This design will add a touch of sophistication and elegance to the beanies. The design comes with five steps, starting with a placement stitch for adding heat transfer vinyl (HTV). After the placement stitch, there is a top stitch and an outline stitch. You can either let the machine continue stitching or stop it to cut the HTV. Finally, there is another layer of stitches to complete the design.

Supplies and Beanies

To create this faux Chanel style embroidery design, I will be using glitter heat transfer vinyl (HTV) from Siser. I have a variety of colors like white, pink, gold, and black, which I believe will add a touch of sparkle to the design. Additionally, I have a selection of AJ blank beanies in different colors, including the popular sage color and options for seasonal themes like Valentine's Day. These beanies are quick and easy to embroider, making them a great option for a profitable embroidery project.

The Process of Embroidering Beanies

Embroidering beanies can be a fun and rewarding project. The process starts with hooping the beanie and adding tearaway stabilizer inside to provide support. I use a five and a half-inch Mighty Hoop, which works well for beanies. The hoop is aligned with the bottom of the beanie and centered for proper embroidery placement. I also use water-soluble stabilizer to prevent the adhesive on the HTV from sticking to the beanie.

Next, the beanie is loaded onto the embroidery machine, ensuring that the beanie is positioned correctly and securely. The machine is then set to trace the design to ensure proper placement. Once the design is aligned, the machine begins stitching, following the steps outlined in the design file. The final result is a beautifully embroidered beanie with the faux Chanel-style design.

Using Glitter Heat Transfer Vinyl

To add some extra sparkle to the faux Chanel design, I will be using glitter heat transfer vinyl (HTV). I prefer to use Siser vinyl because it adheres well and provides a vibrant and durable finish. The glitter HTV comes in various colors like white, pink, gold, and black, which will complement the different colored beanies. Adding the glitter HTV to the design will give it that extra pop and make it stand out.

Using the Rakoma and Two Eyes Embroidery Machines

For this project, I will be using my Rakoma and Two Eyes embroidery machines. These machines are perfect for handling multiple beenies at once, streamlining the embroidery process. It's important to note that you can achieve similar results using a single-needle embroidery machine. However, I'll be utilizing the Rakoma and Two Eyes machines for their efficiency and productivity.

Hooping the Beanies and Loading Them onto the Machine

Hooping the beanies properly is essential to ensure accurate and precise embroidery. I take the beanie, flip it inside out, and insert a piece of tearaway stabilizer inside. Then, I place the bottom piece of the Mighty Hoop inside the beanie, going about halfway up. This method allows for easy hooping without fully enclosing the beanie, preventing any interference with the embroidery process.

The beanie is then aligned with the bottom of the Mighty Hoop using the dots as a reference. This ensures that the embroidery will be positioned correctly on the beanie. Once aligned, the Mighty Hoop is secured, and the beanie is ready to be loaded onto the machine.

Stitching Out the Samples

Now that the beanies are hooped and loaded onto the machines, it's time to start stitching out the samples. I begin by making sure the bottom part of the beanie is pulled out of the way to prevent it from getting caught in the stitching. Then, I trace the design to ensure proper placement and make any necessary adjustments.

Once everything is set, I start the embroidery process. The machines stitch out the design in the specified steps, adding the HTV and creating a beautiful faux Chanel-style embroidery. The result is a stunning and stylish beanie that customers will love.

Tips for Embroidering Beanies

Embroidering beanies can be a profitable and enjoyable endeavor. Here are some tips to ensure successful embroidery:

  1. Use tearaway stabilizer to provide support inside the beanie during the embroidery process.
  2. Consider using water-soluble stabilizer to prevent adhesive from sticking to the beanie.
  3. Align the beanie with the bottom of the hoop for accurate embroidery placement.
  4. Utilize a five and a half-inch Mighty Hoop for easy hooping and stability.
  5. Test the design and placement on one beanie before proceeding with the rest.
