How to Use Pinterest to Grow Your Etsy Business in 2022

Introduction

Welcome back to my channel! My name is Cassie, and my mission is to help aspiring Etsy sellers quit their full-time jobs and become successful entrepreneurs. In my previous video, I shared my top 10 tips for succeeding in Etsy in 2022. Today, I want to focus on tip number 10, which is to grow your social media presence, particularly on Pinterest. Pinterest is an excellent platform for driving traffic to your Etsy shop and expanding your reach online. In this article, I will guide you through the steps to effectively use Pinterest to grow your Etsy business.

Tip #10: Grow Your Social Media in 2022

As an Etsy seller, it's essential to bring your own traffic to the platform. Etsy favors sellers who actively promote their businesses and engage with customers outside of the platform. Growing your social media presence is a great habit to cultivate, and one of the best platforms for this is Pinterest.

What is Pinterest and Why Use It for Your Etsy Business

Pinterest is a visual discovery platform where users can find and save ideas for various topics. It's a highly popular platform, with millions of users actively searching for inspiration and ideas. By utilizing Pinterest for your Etsy business, you can tap into this vast audience and drive targeted traffic to your shop.

Step 1: Opening a Business Account on Pinterest

If you already have a personal Pinterest account, I recommend opening a separate business account using your business email. This keeps your personal and business activities separate and allows you to focus solely on promoting your Etsy shop. To open a business account, visit pinterest.com and click on "Create New Account." Then, select "Create New Business Account" at the bottom.

Step 2: Creating Boards with Keywords

Once your business account is set up, it's time to create boards that align with your target audience's interests and incorporate relevant keywords. Naming your boards with descriptive keywords helps Pinterest's search algorithm to match your pins with users' queries. For example, if you sell bachelorette shirts, create a board named "Bachelorette Party Shirts" or narrow it down further with "Celestial Bachelorette Shirts." Be strategic and think about how your potential customers would search for your products.

Step 3: Using the Pinterest Chrome Extension

To streamline the process of pinning your Etsy listings to Pinterest, it's highly recommended to install the Pinterest Chrome Extension. This extension allows you to quickly pin items directly from your Etsy store. Simply search for "Pinterest Chrome Extension" in Google, navigate to the Chrome store, and click "Add to Chrome." The extension will appear at the top of your browser.

Step 4: Pinning Your Etsy Listings to Pinterest

To start pinning your items, visit your Etsy store and click on a listing. Hover over the corner of your picture, and a "Save" button will appear. Click on it to add the listing to your Pinterest account. If you don't have boards created yet, you can create a new one on the spot. Remember, when pinning, focus on your new listings first. If you have no new listings, pin two to three existing listings per day to avoid spamming.

Step 5: Re-pinning Your Own Pins for More Exposure

An effective strategy to expand your reach on Pinterest is to re-pin your own pins to different boards. For example, if you have a board named "Funny Shirts for Women," consider re-pinning one of those items to a board called "Sarcastic Shirts for Women." This exposes your products to different search categories and increases the chances of reaching potential customers.

Step 6: Joining Group Boards for Increased Visibility

Group boards are collaborative boards where various contributors showcase their pins. By joining group boards in your niche, you can tap into the followers of other board members and gain additional exposure. There are multiple ways to find group boards: research top Etsy group boards on the internet, explore profiles of competitors in your niche, or search specifically for group boards on Pinterest. Joining group boards expands the reach of your pins and drives more traffic to your Etsy shop.

Automating Pinterest with Tailwind App

Managing your Pinterest account can be time-consuming, especially if you want to post consistently. An excellent solution to automate your pinning process is to use a tool like the Tailwind App. Tailwind allows you to schedule your pins in advance, saving you time and ensuring that your content is consistently shared on Pinterest. It also offers features like creating pin designs and analyzing your pin performance. While Tailwind App provides 10 free pins per month, a paid subscription is available for more extensive automation.

Conclusion

Pinterest is a powerful tool for growing your Etsy business and driving traffic to your shop. By following the steps outlined in this article, you can establish a strong presence on Pinterest, increase your visibility, and attract potential customers. Remember to consistently pin your new listings, re-pin your own content, join group boards, and potentially automate your pinning process with tools like Tailwind App. Embrace the power of Pinterest and watch your Etsy business flourish in 2022 and beyond.
